A taste of passion

I hate Blogger. I was already writing for a whole afternoon when I decided to check why is it failing. After I closed writing window I noticed the whole text is GONE.

But as I was saying before my post disappeared, I've had the time of my life (t's only a star, Elina, only a start) last weekend.

So, last Wednesday I got a message from my old school if anyone wanted to be stylist's little helpers for Gloria Fashion Show. How could I refuse?! Yes, I prefer doing something I love for free than getting a double pay (I changed Saturday-Sunday night shift too).

I haven't been as happy in a long time. At first I was nervous whether I'd manage to do well or not but in the end I did amazing. Dressing up a model in all that hassle is something every aspiring designer should experience in the beginning of their career.

And then there was a time gap in writing. Guilty of not being active while in Tampere.

I should really consider having a deadline for each post. Otherwise this blog won't progress anywhere.

Had great time in Tampere. Wish to go back there soon. Had my first written matriculation exam today. Social sciences. Was afraid of having a panic attack once I got the paper placed in front of me but in the end it seemed quite easy. Hope to pass it even though I didn't prepare for the exam. Ups. Next exam is on Wednesday - English.

But really, I should blog and write more regularly.

It's been a while

I feel bad for not blogging for one and half months. I've been meaning to but it never progressed further from the thought. I could blame the fact that I got two jobs, but it would be lame of me, especially when the second one it's offering that many shifts. Now I'll really try to blog whenever I have a day off even if I have absolutely nothing to write about. And, of course, I will force myself to tap on that keyboard if something is happening - even if I'm dead tired.

In my last post I mentioned visiting Tampere. I did. It was great, even though nothing happened. I fell in love with that city. The only place I would live in if I had to live in Finland. Maybe someday I'll drag my husband and children there - who are still imaginary at the moment.

Next week I'm taking a weekend retreat - before matriculation exam hassle starts - back to Tampere. Even though I'm sure this time there will be much more going on and my relaxation will be quite unseen.

But let's move on on what's happening in the capital of Finland, Helsinki.

A former classmate of mine back from high school and an acquaintance from a parallel class from 9th grade (which was in same school as high school) found each other about a year ago and started a shared dream - brand Kliffa. If I've understood right, they started everything by using patterns from old magazines. I've only heard about it briefly, but they're working with someone who makes prints and those prints give their 50s' cuts a modern and playful touch. I'm not a big fan of prints but let me tell you, I just love prints they're using.

On Tuesday they had an opening for Fashion Exhibition. They have prints, illustrations and photographs hang around youth center (thank you Finland for providing young folks free space to use, even though those have several months long queue). The exhibition isn't big but it's worth seeing.

I recommend visiting Youth Center Happi until September 19 if you're in Helsinki and in need of something different. Even though it's a shame there won't be good performances, tasty tea and mouth-watering savory meringues this time.

Kliffa is launching their online store this Saturday and I hope to buy something for myself if it's not too expensive. Will update with more information once I get it.

Meanwhile, check out their Facebook and Instagram pages!

Push the Button

On Monday, almost immediately after posting, I got a horrible migraine. I tried to prevent it as soon as I felt first symptoms but it still started. Had to suffer for half a day. Could have used all the time I  lost studying or doing projects.

Even though I still don't have anything exciting to write about, I thought it would be nice sharing what I spazz and cry about whenever I have time.

Last week Korean brand pushBUTTON launched capsule collaboration collection of few pieces with 4EVA Mall. It's nothing special but that's the charm.

I especially love All of pushButton collections and To do list shirts.

To do list

Even though it's just text, there's always more meaning behind plain letters. People rarely stop to think what designer(s) had in their mind. When you see a collection its meaning is completely different from the one you look at knowing the name. There's usually a story behind the name. Of course, there are designers who simply name their collections with words that suit the whole picture. No story - just plain meaningless letters.

It's a pity that 4EVA Mall delivers only in Korea. Downsides of living on the other side of the world and liking brands that are mostly only available in the country of origin. Like I would've had money anyway. Check 'em out if you're residing in Korea. Or just visiting sometime soon.

On a side note, I decided a few days ago to go to Tampere. My friend has been begging me to go there for almost a year already, but I've been pushing it with excuses. So finally going there on Sunday for a few days. Hope to get some blogging material in the industrial city of Finland.

Until next time, xo.

Wish I was there

I've been wanting to blog for a whole week already but I have had absolutely nothing to write about. Yes, my life is that boring.

As I'm moping about my life in Finland and studying for matriculation examinations in September, I'm also waiting for the moment I can finally say good-bye to high school, move on with my life and dreams and escape to South Korea.

My attention is sprawled all over the place right now. Fashion Weeks don't quite help with my studying, and I'm also trying to get my hands onto my own fashion projects, which, unfortunately, isn't going as smoothly as I wished for. (Most of my time goes on studying.) And, of course, I'm keeping an eye out for what's happening on the other side of the world.

Some of you might know Feggy Min - an amazing artist from Switzerland. She got under the bright spotlight last year and now she's having her own hip hop show in Itaewon, Club Lucidream, in August. Oh how I wish I was there.

I know there'll be a lot of hip hop shows in Seoul once I get there, but what's the possibility to have another Feggy Min show. This show ain't only about good music, it's about her artwork too, and I really want to support fellow young and rising artist.

As a poor jobless student I don't have money to buy her clothes or any of her artworks even if I want to. After brainstorming for a while I thought writing and somehow promoting Feggy Min and her show held in a few weeks would be enough of support in my current situation. Even though I'm sure this post won't trigger anyone's interest since only my friends read this blog HA!

I think I don't need to tell much about the show because the poster says most of it.

I was crying here in agony (was tired of studying) so I made a playlist based on performing artists and songs I like. I had to cut off a lot of songs I love from the playlist, otherwise it would've been way too long. So, if there's someone who's in the same situation as me - wanting to be present on the show but is unable to attend - or waiting with excitement for the moment they step into Lucidream, here's something you might enjoy: Feggy Min Hip Hop Show Playlist

I'm 100% sure I had more on my mind. Guess I'll be back once I remember, then. Until then, enjoy good music and some dope art!

UPDATE!

Here's Hiphopplaya link where's more information on the show. You can also buy tickets there. Good luck to those who don't understand Korean. Who am I even writing this for OTL. You can ask for help if needed.

You can enter aftershow party with the same ticket.

Until next time, xo.

Yo!

So. Getting it on, I guess. There's no need to introduce myself. Some of you know me, and those who don't will get to know me eventually.

This is my nth time starting a blog with all previous attempts being a fail. I hope this time I'll have enough motivation and inspiration on updating.

I think it would be pointless to describe now what I'll be blogging about.I don't even know myself yet.

To make this post less gray here is a song that will add some color.

Fooled you all. It's gray too. But I really love this song, especially this version.

Until next time, xo.
